This page explains how to have your Eduiey account closed and your personal details erased, what is removed, and what has to be kept. We would rather tell you the limits up front than promise something the system cannot do.
How to make a request
In the app: Profile → Privacy → Delete my account, confirmed with your password. It covers your account at the institution you are signed in to; your accounts at other institutions are not affected. You are signed out on every device at once and can't sign in to that account while your institution erases your personal details — or, if it has to keep the account, it tells you why and you can sign in again. An institution administrator's own request comes to us.
You can also ask your institution's administrator, or email support@eduiey.com with the subject line Account deletion request, about one institution or all of them.
If you email us, please include:
- Your full name as it appears in Eduiey
- The mobile number or email address you sign in with
- The name of the institution the request concerns — or say "all institutions" if you belong to more than one
- Whether you are asking for your own account or your child's
To protect you, we check that a request really comes from the account holder, or from their parent or guardian, before acting on it. We may ask you to confirm from the mobile number or email address on the account, or ask your institution to confirm who you are. We will not act on a request we cannot verify.
We acknowledge requests within 24 hours. Your institution decides about the records it holds, so once we have verified a request we pass it to your institution within 5 working days and tell you we have done so. For the little data Eduiey keeps for itself, such as a demo request or feedback you sent us, we complete the request within 30 days.
Your account was created by your school, college or coaching centre, and it is responsible for the records in it. Its administrator can erase your personal details in Eduiey straight away, and decides what has to be kept. Contact your administrator first; write to us if they cannot help or you would rather not approach them.
What happens when your details are erased
Your account is closed at once: all your sessions end, you can no longer sign in, and your personal details are erased. That means your name (shown as "Erased person" from then on), mobile number, email address, date of birth, gender, address, photo, ID number, the details your role kept, copies on ID cards, your password, links to parents or children, your nominee, your AI assistant chats with the files attached to them, your reports of AI answers, your notifications, your résumé, the reasons, notes and documents (such as a medical certificate) on your leave requests, and the messages of absence notes about you or written by you; your phones also stop getting notifications, and your school-bus assignments end and lose their notes. This cannot be undone.
Everything else stays, attached to the erased record rather than to your name — mostly records your institution may need or be required by law to keep (see below). Your institution may instead only deactivate your account, which ends your sign-in but keeps your details; ask it which it has done.
A person's record is the anchor for their class enrolment, attendance, exam marks, transcripts and fee history. Erasing it removes what identifies you but keeps that history, so the institution's records still add up. The consent log keeps the record of the consents you gave and of the erasure itself, as proof the law asks for, and audit-trail entries made before the erasure, which can show your name, are kept for at least a year.
What is kept, and why
Financial records
Invoices, payments, receipts, salary structures and payouts stay, attached to the erased record. They are accounting records, which your institution is required by law to keep. The bank account or UPI ID saved for your salary also stays (stored encrypted and shown only masked). Eduiey has no refund or reversal function; a mistaken charge must be corrected by your institution.
Leave and exam records
The dates and type of leave you took stay, because they are part of staff attendance and pay; the reasons, notes and documents go. Marks, exam statuses (such as Medical) and documents sent to ask to sit an exam (such as a medical certificate or an affidavit) stay with your institution's exam records.
Certificates already issued
An issued certificate is a permanent snapshot of the details that were correct on the day it was issued. It is deliberately not re-derived from your record, so correcting or erasing your record does not change a certificate already issued to you.
Messages you have sent
Messages you sent to other people stay with those people, in the same way an email you have sent stays in the recipient's mailbox. So do the notifications they received about them, which can include a short extract of the message. If a message was reported, the report keeps its words as reported, even if the message is later removed, and stays with your institution's records.
Uploaded files
Your photo, your résumé and the documents on your leave requests are deleted when your details are erased, and files you attached to AI chats go with the chats. Other files you uploaded — such as work you handed in, documents sent to ask to sit an exam, other documents and images — stay with your institution's records, and deactivating an account does not remove them either. Say so in your request if you want them removed, and we will pass that to your institution with the rest of your request.
Records other people created about you
Attendance marked by a teacher, marks entered by an examiner, interview notes written by a placement officer and similar entries were created by your institution as part of its own record-keeping, as were library, hostel, meal and school-bus records. They stay attached to the erased record; whether they can be removed is the institution's decision.
If you belong to more than one institution
Eduiey keeps a separate record for you at each institution you belong to, even though you sign in with one mobile number or email address and one password. Erasing your details at one institution has no effect on your records at any other.
Tell us whether you mean one institution or all of them. If you do not say, we will assume you mean only the institution you named.
Requests about a child
A parent or guardian may make a request on behalf of their child. Tell us the child's name, their institution and your relationship to them.
Because the institution holds the child's academic record and may be legally required to keep it, we will pass the request to the institution and tell you we have done so. You can also withdraw your consent for your child yourself, in Profile → Privacy: your child is signed out and cannot use Eduiey, and the institution is told so that it can decide what to keep and what to erase.
Things you can do yourself, today
Besides Delete my account (above), these are the controls you have:
- Withdraw your consent — in Profile → Privacy. You are signed out on every device and your institution is told, so it can decide what to keep and what to erase
- Change your details — the ones your institution allows, in Profile → My details; and your password and bank details (and UPI ID in India) from your profile
- Delete your résumé — if your institution uses the placements module
- See your consent records and name a nominee — in Profile → Privacy, where you can see each record and name someone to use your rights if you die or become unable to
Your name, mobile number and email address can be changed only by your institution's administrator.
What we cannot tell you
Eduiey records changes, sign-ins and downloads of reports and documents, but not who has viewed a person's data. If you ask who has seen your or your child's record, we will not be able to answer from our systems, and we would rather say so than guess.
